Welcome to the Lancaster County Mothers of Multiples!
2009-2010 is our club’s 45th year of operation! We had a face-lift and changed our name to be more inclusive of members with higher order multiples. This led to a change of motto and a new logo to better represent our club. We also updated our by-laws and now allow expectant mothers of multiples to join the group. Finding out you are expecting more than one baby can be a shock, and there are many questions that mother’s who have been through it can answer. We hope that women who are expecting multiples will join the club and will benefit from the support that we offer.
The goal of our club is to provide a welcoming and caring atmosphere to support mothers and expectant mothers of multiples. We are an eclectic group of women, coming together because we share one thing: the ups and downs of raising multiples. We are a support group providing advice when sought, meals for members in need, and a little “sunshine” when it is least expected. We hold two yard sales each year and in November we swap new and gently used children’s gifts to help out around the holidays.
Yard sales are held the third Saturday in October and May and are a great opportunity to sell outgrown children’s clothes, toys and equipment and purchase items for “the next stage”. It is also a great place for expectant moms to find items specifically for multiples. Funds raised at the food stand are used to provide support to families of multiples in our community, and clothing, toys and funds are donated to local charities.
Our monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month and provide time to socialize with other members and to learn about club events, followed by an informative program. Highlights this year include Multiple Questions, Multiple Answers, Money Smarts and De-Stress Night. Members also communicate through the monthly newsletter and the LCMOMs Big Tent group, which provides daily updates on club activities, convention news, advice and “I need/I’m selling” classifieds. To join, visit www.bigtent.com/groups/lcmoms. The club also provides much needed Mom’s Night Out opportunities and family social activities throughout the year to give members and their families a chance to get to know each other better.
This year will be a busy one for our club, as we are hosting the State Convention in April 2010. This summer we worked a concession stand at five Barnstormers’ games to raise money, and a couple of programs will be devoted to learning more about convention and how we can help the committee. All members will be asked to volunteer their time in order to make this important event a successful one for our club!
I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to be president again this year and want to thank all those whose hard work makes this a fun and successful club!
